Meaning "to see the sea" in Spanish, Miramar was funded by A.L. Mailman who originally bought his property from H.D. perry, Sr. in 1953. Both Mailman and perry had a strong influence on the community's development.

Incorporated in 1955, the majority of land in Miramar still remains to be developed. The city is primarily residential, with mostly single- family home and condominiums. There are a few rental

Units available. The average household income is about $43,000.
