Stretching over 120 miles along
the Atlantic Ocean, the gold Coast encompasses over 5,150 square miles of land
in three counties Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade. It contains some of
Florida's most glamorous and enchanting resort spots , a vast array of
desirable housing and a high percentage of the industrial and commercial sites
that draw new business into the state.
Southern Florida's most
longstanding reputation is as a vacation haven.

Endowed with natural beauty, a
subtropical climate and proximity to the ocean as well as inland waterways, the
Gold Cost is a natural for its role among the vacation capitals of the world.
"The season" (roughly December through April) means hotels filled to
capacity, bustling shopping centers, jammed restaurants and an overall sense of
excitement pervading the area. Miami-Dade alone has nearly ten million visitors
a year.

The private and public
sectors are continually working to keep the region in the forefront. Miami
Beach's South Beach is a dramatic example of investment and renovation that
has created an internationally popular spot. Tourists and residents alike
combine to make South Beach "hot".
An indication of South Florida's popularity is that a plane lands or takes
off every minute in Miami and about every two minutes in Fort Lauderdale, on
average. Visitors fly south primarily for the son and sea. Beaches, boats and
yachts are an important part of Florida's winter season-as they are year-round
to the area's permanent residents.
While tourism is vital to the Gold Coast's economy, the area has
diversified its economy significantly by attracting new business, industry and
commerce to its prime location.
